Rodney Platte

Rodney Stephen Platte, 54, of Longmont, CO died Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at HospiceCare in Lafayette, CO. Rodney was born October 19, 1952 in Boulder, CO the son of Richard Jay and Reva (Montgomery) Platt. He graduated from Boulder High School in 1971 where he played on the varsity golf team. Rod then accepted a two-year golf scholarship to Lamar Community College, before moving on to and graduating from Adams State with a degree in business.For 27 years Rodney worked in the insurance business opening his own agency known as the Platt Insurance and Associates in Longmont. Mr. Platt is survived by his son Ryan (Elizabeth) Platt of Kings Bay, GA; a daughter Crystal (J.J.) Autry of Branson, MO, grandchildren: Joe Cash Autry and Aspen Cheyenne Autry, his mother Reva Montgomery of Longmont, and his brother Ricky Jay Platt of Westminster. He is further survived by his niece Aliney Beverly Platt and nephew Richard Allan Platt, his aunts and uncles: Eleaner (Clarence) Kneebone, Jewell (Don) Roberts and Ralph (Carol) Montgomery, as well as numerous cousins. His father preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. April 27 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel with David Bradshaw officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder. Memorials may be made to HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, 2594 Trailridge Drive East, Suite A, Lafayette, CO 80026.

Rodney was my best friend throughout elementary school at Pleasantview. We often played "kick the can" on the half-mile walk home. I saw him many years later at a reunion for everyone who graduated from Pleasantview during the 20th century. I wish we'd stayed in touch and still miss him.
